One of the essential techniques in vegan culinary preparation is grilling. Since tofu can withstand hot grills and maintain its structure, grilling tofu is a must for this diet.  First, prepare the tofu by pressing so it releases excess water. The technique adds flavor and prevents the tofu from sticking to the grill. Then, marinate it in a favorite mixture, such as soy sauce, fresh garlic, and ginger.

Before placing tofu pieces on the grill, prepare the grill by preheating it and rubbing it with a paper towel blotted with oil, which minimizes the chances of sticking and prevents flare-ups caused by too much oil. Place the pieces in spaced rows, reduce the heat to low, and grill for 10 minutes before turning over and grilling the other side for 10 more minutes.

Individuals can use the same grilling technique for veggie and plant-based patties. However, patties typically require only a two to three-minute sear on either side, even when going on frozen.
